You know how the Grammy year concluded August 31, 2010 yet they won’t announce their winners until February so that they have time to make their decisions?  I feel like EOTY lists that are put out now are the equivalent of somebody cramming for a test at the last minute or overanalyzing material for 10 months and then just skimming over the last two months as a result. Friend: I will look into more of his stuff, I like it.
Joe: He shot himself in the foot I think - the album came out August 31st, which was the last day of eligibility for the upcoming Grammy's. He should have released it a day later to be eligible for the 54th (Feb 2012) Grammy's.
Friend: Why?
Joe: So if he wins the 'soundtrack' Grammy people will ultimately seek out his latest release and then he could ride that wave through 2011 and hope to get another nod for his album from 2010 for the 54th Grammy's in Feb 2012.
Friend: holy shit
Joe: Then release a new one March 2012 if he does get the nominations in the winter of 2011... I overthink things — my brain thinks in tour and album cycles.
